Tate Modern: Making Memeries

The London-based curatorial project Self Publish, Be Happy presented a program of events that explore the blurring boundaries surrounding on/offline existence and distribution of photographs. The event, titled “Making Memeries,” (2016) took place at the Tate Modern during the “Offprint” series, featuring the work of artist Lucas Blalock.

Blalock collaborated with REIFY to build an accompanying AR experience via an iTunes/Androad app that blurs traditional boundaries and challenges one’s expectations of viewership.

With no marketing, “Making Memeries” generated 600+ consumer downloads and 2,000+ image captures in the first 2 days of opening.

“Making Memeries” has since traveled throughout Europe, and was recently made into an  interactive artist book of the same title, which was selected by Time Magazine as one of the best photobooks of 2016.
